Focus: Protecting Life and Strengthening Families
As we continue the Tuesday call to fasting and prayer for the Commonwealth of Virginia until Election Day – This week we turn our hearts to pray for the sanctity of life and the strengthening of families in Virginia. Our Commonwealth is at a crossroads: forces are working to enshrine abortion into the state constitution, redefine the family, and strip away parental rights. As God’s people, we are called to stand in the gap and intercede for His design and His protection over our homes and children.
Prayer Points
- The Sanctity of Life
- Pray for the protection of unborn children and for the defeat of efforts to enshrine abortion into Virginia’s Constitution.
- Ask God to raise up lawmakers, judges, and leaders who will boldly defend the value of every human life, created in His image (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13-16).
- Pray for healing and hope for mothers and fathers who carry the pain of past abortions.
- Marriage and Family
- Pray for the strengthening of marriages across Virginia—that husbands and wives would be faithful, loving, and rooted in God’s Word.
- Pray for families under attack through brokenness, addiction, poverty, and cultural confusion. May God restore, heal, and protect the family unit.
- Pray that Virginia would reject efforts to redefine marriage and family outside of God’s design (Genesis 2:24).
- Parental Rights
- Pray for parents to have courage and wisdom to guide their children in truth, even when it goes against the culture.
- Pray that schools and government leaders would respect and uphold the God-given authority of parents to raise their children (Deuteronomy 6:6–7).
- Pray for protection from harmful ideologies that seek to confuse and corrupt children.
- Children and the Next Generation
- Pray for children and teens across Virginia to be shielded from lies and deception, and to know their true identity in Christ.
- Pray for revival among young people—that they would rise up as bold witnesses for Jesus in their schools and communities.
- Pray for godly mentors and leaders to pour into the next generation, equipping them to stand strong in their faith.

Prayer for Life and Family in Virginia
Heavenly Father,
We humble ourselves before You on behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia. You are the Author of life and the Designer of the family, and we confess that our land has strayed from Your ways. Today, we lift up our state in prayer and fasting, asking that You would intervene with power and mercy.
Lord, we pray for the protection of the unborn. Silence every voice that seeks to enshrine death into our Constitution, and raise up leaders who will stand boldly for life. Let every child, knit together in the womb by Your hands, be welcomed and cherished.
We pray for the strengthening of marriages and families. Restore broken homes, heal wounds of division, and pour out Your Spirit of love, forgiveness, and unity upon husbands and wives. May families across Virginia be built upon the solid rock of Christ.
We ask for the protection of parental rights. Guard parents with wisdom and courage to raise their children according to Your Word. Shield our schools and communities from harmful ideologies, and let truth prevail over lies.
And Lord, we lift up the next generation. Protect their minds, hearts, and bodies. Call forth a mighty army of young people who will know You, love You, and boldly live for You. Let revival sweep through our children and youth, that they may shine as lights in the darkness.
Father, we declare over Virginia: Choose life, that you and your descendants may live (Deuteronomy 30:19). May our Commonwealth be known as a place where life is treasured, families are strong, and Your name is honored.
